April 2024 — Technology Research
Tritech developed a compiler that converts older 4th Generation Language (4GL) source code to C#, enabling full migration of our enterprise P&C Insurance Solutions to the latest and best technology — without requiring a complete rewrite.
Legacy 4GL codebases represent decades of accumulated business logic — invaluable intellectual property that encodes the rules and processes of P&C insurance operations. A full manual rewrite is high-risk, expensive, and time-consuming. Tritech took a different approach.
Tritech's engineering team developed a proprietary compiler capable of systematically converting 4GL source code to idiomatic C#. This enabled us to migrate our GIMS solution to the latest and best P&C platform while fully preserving its functionality.
We also migrated select services to .NET Core, enabling significantly better performance — up to 4× faster — for our USA and Caribbean clients.
Tritech was selected by the Insurance Accounting & Systems Association (IASA) to present this research at their annual conference in Saint Louis, MO — one of only three research forums featured at the event. The presentation showcased the methods used and the results achieved, and was well-received by attendees from across the North American insurance technology community.
